Compost Drop-Off Program – Terms & Conditions

By registering for and participating in the Compost Drop-Off Program (“Program”), you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Program Participation

  • Participants must register to receive an access code to use the compost drop-off stations.
  • Access codes are provided for individual use only and should not be shared without authorization.
  • Participants agree to use the Program in a responsible and respectful manner.

2. Acceptable Materials

Participants agree to only deposit accepted compostable materials, including:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Cooked food and leftovers
  • Meat, fish, bones, and dairy
  • Coffee grounds and tea bags
  • Compostable paper products (uncoated, food-soiled paper)

3. Prohibited Materials

The following items are strictly prohibited:

  • Plastics of any kind (including “biodegradable” or non-certified products)
  • Glass, metals, or recyclables
  • Liquids, oils, or grease in bulk
  • Hazardous or chemical waste
  • Pet waste (unless otherwise specified)

Only BPI-certified compostable products are allowed where applicable.

4. Proper Use of Facilities

  • Participants must ensure all materials are placed inside the designated containers.
  • Materials should be brought in paper bags or certified compostable liners only.
  • Users must close and secure containers after each use.
  • Any contamination or misuse may result in suspension of access.

5. Access & Security

  • Participants are responsible for safeguarding their access code.
  • The Program reserves the right to change access codes at any time to maintain security and proper use.

6. Health & Safety

  • Participants acknowledge that composting involves organic material and agree to follow all posted guidelines.
  • The Program is not responsible for any injuries or incidents resulting from improper use of the facilities.

7. Program Modifications

  • The Program reserves the right to modify, relocate, or discontinue drop-off locations, schedules, or services at any time.
  • Participants may be notified of updates via email or other communication channels.

8. Data & Communication

  • By registering, participants agree to receive communications related to the Program, including updates, educational content, and impact reports.
  • Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy standards and will not be sold to third parties.

9. Environmental Commitment

  • Participants acknowledge that contamination may compromise the composting process and agree to follow all guidelines to support the Program’s mission of producing high-quality compost and supporting local farms and green spaces.

10. Termination of Access

  • The Program reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation at any time due to misuse, contamination, or violation of these terms.
